I’m sorry it’s been awhile. I’ve had a lot of personal stuff going on and I haven’t felt like getting on here every day. But. My mom went to TNNA this weekend and came back with this

She came home with a lot of other things but I couldn’t help but make fun of her for that one. It’s queen Elizabeth in a cross stitch pattern. O goodness.

Late night Veronica Mars marathons means I’ve done a lot of knitting…

I’m loving this Miss Babs yarn. The way it feels, the way it looks, everything. It’s a lot lighter than worsted weight which is what it says it is on her website but I still absolutely love it.

Yay snow?

We got about 8 inches of snow where I live last night and the puppies were VERY excited. You would have thought it was Christmas morning. I am currently on a two hour delay from work that hopefully turns into a complete office closing because my shovel just broke and I don’t know that my minivan can hop over 8 inches of snow. In other news I finished the scarf!

It will be at its new home next week at this time. Now it’s time for some selfish knitting. In the several years I’ve been knitting I’ve made a whole TWO things for myself so I’m breaking that trend this year. First I’m making a scarf out of the Miss Babs bat shit crazy yarn.

It was a toss up between this and the Downton Abbey shawl and I thought this was fitting to be working on during my Veronica Mars marathon. So far I really enjoy posting this from my phone except I can’t figure out how to do links on here…I think there’s something buggy with the app. O well, gotta get ready for work and hopefully make it out of my neighborhood!

Trying this post from my phone since the wordpress app has finally been updated so hopefully it works. That picture is the current view from my lap :) my best friend decided she liked the idea of having a “mistake” in her scarf much better than it being absolutely perfect so I’m keeping it. I do want to practice frogging something sometime soon though since I’ve never done it. Right now I have one more block of color left, then weaving in all the ends and then I’m not sure what I want to start next. I’m either doing the downton abbey MKAL since I haven’t even cast on (oops) or making myself another scarf. I think I’m a little scarfed out for the moment but who knows what I’ll decide.

I will say, I do like the idea of there being a mistake because my mom told me that quilters always have a mistake in their quilts to show that nothing is ever perfect just like life. This one just happened to be not on purpose, but I’m okay with that. I’ll post more pictures tomorrow because it should definitely be finished by tonight. Now to decide what I want to work on next…

Houston, we have a problem

I have two younger brothers who like to tease and make fun of me, and last Christmas they ever so lovingly decided to call freaking out about something minor “weezing out”. Yep. They love me. Well I almost weezed out this morning. IMG_0248[1]

I realized this morning while I was getting ready for work (obviously not knitting) that at some point almost three feet back, I put one bronze stripe instead of two. I realize this is the epitome of a first world problem but at 7:00 am it was stressing me out. I called my mom about 30 seconds before the weezout was going to happen so that I could get someone to talk me off the ledge, and she asked how far back it was and if I could really honestly frog it. I have never ever frogged anything because I have never messed up that noticeably to where I would even care and I always just look at it as human error and go about my merry day. I don’t know why this is bothering me so much, maybe because it’s for my  best friend and not for me but UGH I hate making mistakes. If I make that section the halfway point the scarf will be *slightly* short and by slightly short I mean normal length for most people, I just like to make monstrosities so I’m not sure if I want to do that or not. It will hit right below the chest, so not too bad. What do you guys think?

I desperately need to learn the art of covertly knitting. Or make smaller projects that I can easily hide if my boss walks into my department. I’m having another movie marathon at work and my fingers are itching to be knitting. Is this the first sign of a problem?

Well today sure has been a lovely change of pace from the last couple of days. Work is RIDICULOUSLY slow so I’m currently catching up on my netflix, covertly until I hear the door to our department open and then I hurriedly look like I’m doing work…that doesn’t exist. I’ve already watched two movies this morning and read half a book so I feel pretty productive. More productive than an actual day of working which should probably tell me something…

Anyway…CHECK OUT MY RAVENCLAW SCARF

I’m sorry I’m awful at taking pictures, my house is just really dark but I was just so excited! I’ve made so much progress and it will soon be ready for it’s new home 🙂 Fingers crossed, it will be finished by this weekend!

It’s just one of those days…

Bah! Humbug!

I’m not even sure what that means, but it’s a noise and phrase made in aggravation, which I have in spades today. My car is acting up, and even though I live two minutes away from my job I now have to share a car with my mother who works thirty minutes away meaning I have an hour commute both ways. This also means I get to sit and help her once I actually get to her classroom in the evenings and lose out  on valuable sunlight and puppy playtime. Argh!

I need a bike and I need warmer weather…and I need to learn how to ride a bike because I feel like that would be helpful…
